The Illumination by Kevin Brockmeier.. Wounds and suffering pour forth light and in strange, convincing language, become beautiful. A staggering, deftly handled, What If? While the concept sounds sci-fi, the book makes the premise seem as real as dirt or grass or rust. Elegant stuff.
